Recently, we supported the College of the Fashion Industry by donating 5 sewing machines from the International School of Costume and Fashion Design in Warsaw.
The Lviv Applied College of Fashion Industry of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, in its teaching profile, is one of the few schools that focuses on learning from scratch – machines and equipment are broken down into basic elements. Students produce the equipment parts themselves and then assemble the machine themselves. Teaching is carried out from the theory and practice of producing and using equipment, through the implementation of projects, to hand-made sewing and demonstration.
In their free time, the College’s lecturers participate with Polish volunteers in humanitarian aid convoys to the east of Ukraine, delivering basic products to liberated areas, such as Kherson, Kupyansk, Balakliya, Lyman, or to larger towns in the east of the country where displaced people are located, such as Kharkov or Kryvyi Rih.
Students of the College often join in supporting aid provided in the East, by preparing needed products or doing a charity show. Currently, camouflage nets are being prepared during the breaks, which will be delivered to the front when finished.
In order to support the conditions for an appropriate level of learning and education at the College, we are trying to acquire computer equipment (laptops / units, monitors) that will ensure the replacement of the current equipment with newer ones. Current operating systems date back 13 years. Due to their age, the computer units do not allow for the uploading of newer systems and, therefore, the uploading of programs adequate for learning.
We encourage you to support the College by donating, above all, newer computer equipment that will allow for better development of the skills of the College’s students.
We managed to provide used sewing machines on which students will be able to learn the craft.
Update
Thanks to the courtesy of Vistula Retail Group, in December we managed to deliver used mannequins. The mannequins will be used by students to continue their studies in specialized fields. With the support of Wonders Fashion and Łuksja Sp. z o. o. we also provided some materials and sewing accessories. They will provide a very good foundation for projects.
The college is currently left without heating due to resource constraints, and classes are held at temperatures barely above freezing.
